MAY DAY MESSAGE: NEWSPOINTGH EDITOR SAYS “SUPPORT FOR MEDIA IS SUPPORT FOR DEMOCRACY

As Ghana joined the world to mark Workers’ Day, Newspointgh News Editor and Manager, Ms. Linda Asare, used the occasion to make a strong case for media workers.

Speaking at a staff gathering in Kumasi on May 1, Ms. Asare said journalists continue to work under economic strain and demanding conditions, yet remain central to national accountability.

“Journalism remains the backbone of democracy,” she stressed. “Our reporters, editors, camerapersons, and producers work long hours to keep the public informed. They deserve recognition, fair compensation, and institutional support.”

She called on government, businesses, and the public to back media houses through advertising, partnerships, and respect for press freedom. “Continued support is not charity – it’s an investment in truth,” Ms. Asare added.

She also saluted Newspointgh staff for accurate and balanced reporting, pledging the outlet’s commitment to staff welfare and professional growth.
