Christiana Agyapong Visits Obogu to Console Families of Atwedie Accident Victims

Mrs. Christiana Agyapong, wife of New Patriotic Party flagbearer hopeful Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, on Friday paid a solemn visit to Obogu in the Asante Akim South District to commiserate with families of the victims of the recent tragic road accident on the Atwedie-Juaso stretch of the Kumasi-Accra Highway.

The accident, which involved members of the Savior Church of Ghana, claimed the lives of 16 people while 4 others survived, leaving the entire community in deep sorrow.

Mrs. Agyapong, who has been widely recognized for her compassion and advocacy for women and families, spent time with the bereaved mothers, offering words of encouragement and assuring them that they were not alone in their grief. “This tragedy is not just Obogu’s pain, but a national one. We must stand together to comfort one another and to ensure such painful losses are minimized,” she said.

As part of her support, she donated *GHS 60,000* to the bereaved mothers to help ease their immediate burden and *GHS 20,000* to the Savior Church of Ghana to support the wider congregation affected by the tragedy. Her act of generosity was deeply appreciated by the families and traditional leaders, who described her visit as consoling.

A family spokesperson said, “For Mrs. Agyapong to come here personally, sit with us, and share in our grief means a lot. It shows that she is not only standing by her husband’s political journey but also standing with the people.”

Community members highlighted the visit as a demonstration of Mrs. Agyapong’s deep empathy and people-centered values.

Meanwhile, the tragic accident has reignited conversations about road safety and the need for urgent reforms to reduce the rate of accidents on Ghana’s highways.
