Wreath‑Laying Marks Fifth Anniversary of Former President Jerry John Rawlings’ Passing
Nov 12 – A solemn wreath‑laying ceremony was held on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, at the Military Cemetery in Burma Camp to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the death of former President Flight Lieutenant (Rtd) Jerry John Rawlings.
The service was officiated by Rev. Lt. Col Benjamin Kwesi Effah and brought together members of the late leader’s family, including his children, the Head of the Agbotui Family Colonel Joshua Agbotui, and other close relatives.
The children of the former president laid a wreath on behalf of the family, honoring his lasting legacy and contributions to Ghana. The ceremony remained a subdued, family‑focused event, providing a quiet moment for reflection on Rawlings’ life and service to the nation.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), the party he founded, also paid glowing tribute, acknowledging his pivotal role in the party’s history and Ghana’s development.
