Kumawu: MP supports over 200 students with trunks, chop boxes
Over 200 students within the Sekyere Kumawu enclave have benefited from trunks and chop boxes with groceries as part of a social intervention by the Member of Parliament, Hon Ernest Yaw Anim to support parents whose children have gained admission into senior high school.
This according to the MP for the area, is to make up for the short duration for which parents are supposed to organize and send their wards to school.
The donation was in collaboration with the Sekyere Kumawu District GES, the items were handed over to deserving students from forty-five (45) public basic schools at two events in Kumawu (Party office) and Oyoko (his Administrative office).
The gesture is in fulfilment of his pledge to provide these essentials freely to high-achieving candidates before the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Speaking to the media when presenting the items he stated that, during the 2023 BECE, he promised to reward high-achieving pupils as a form of encouragement for them to learn and set examples for younger ones.
He also promised that the overall best 2023 BECE candidate will be given a laptop, with an emphasis on public schools. Hon Ernest Anim underlined that the laptop is ready, and he is waiting for the candidate’s name from the District’s Education Service to be given.
The Chief Executive officer of Sekyere Kumawu Samuel Addai Agyekum recognizing the benefits of Free SHS, stated that the MP’s support is an act of the gospel to enable someone to pursue education who might have otherwise been hindered.
He further stated that the distribution of the items by the Member of Parliament for Kumawu Constituency signifies his commitment to championing education at all levels in the jurisdiction.
Some of the parents who received the items on behalf of their wards heaped praises on the member of parliament for the support and indicated it will motivate them to study and also inspire other JHS students to learn hard.
