IFES Schools Media On Democracy, Electoral Reforms
The International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) , has organised a training workshop for journalists In Kumasi.
Funded and supported by the European Union (EU),the
two days workshop seeks to build the capacity of journalists and create platforms for media practitioners to discuss and advocate for electoral reforms in the following areas: Abusive of State Resources, Transparency and Accountability, political finance. Judicial independence and integrity elections in Ghana.
Addressing the media, the Senior Election Specialist for IFES ,Mr. Gilbert Sam explained that IFES works with a diverse range of partners worldwide to combat corruption, support democratic renewal, and build trust in democratic processes, systems, and institutions.
According to him, corruption undermines the efficiency and efficacy of government and erodes public trust in democratic institutions, including legislature, executive agencies, and the courts.
He has therefore emphasized that strengthening the efforts of public officials, independent institutions, and civil society to promote good governance and counter corruption.
