Tragedy Hits Kumawu: MP Calls for Support After Fatal Accident Claims Lives

The Member of Parliament for Kumawu Constituency, Hon. Ernest Yaw Anim, has expressed deep sorrow following a tragic road accident that claimed four lives and left five others in critical condition on Saturday January 17, 2026.

The incident involved a construction truck transporting sand from Abotanso to a project site, which reportedly lost control and crashed into a hairdressing container shop and a storey building in Kumawu.

Hon. Anim, who visited the accident scene and the hospital to assess the situation, described the tragedy as heartbreaking and extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

“I share in the grief of the affected families during this painful moment and wish the injured victims a speedy and full recovery,” the MP stated.

He assured residents of his unwavering commitment to support the victims and their families throughout the difficult period, emphasizing the need for collective efforts to provide relief.

The Kumawu lawmaker further appealed to the government, corporate bodies, faith-based organizations, and benevolent individuals to contribute towards financial assistance, medical care, and emotional support for those affected by the unfortunate incident.
“Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in restoring hope to the families,” he noted.

Hon. Anim called on the community to remain united in compassion and solidarity, adding that he will continue working closely with traditional authorities, local leaders, and relevant stakeholders to ensure sustained support for the victims.

The tragic accident has plunged the Kumawu community into mourning, with residents calling for improved road safety measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
