Samira By His Side: Bawumia Gets Heroic Welcome in Kumasi as NPP Elects New Officers

NPP flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, received a rousing welcome from enthusiastic party supporters when he arrived at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi for the party’s National Delegates Conference and national elections.
Dr Bawumia, who arrived at about 1:30 p.m. in the company of his wife, Samira Bawumia, was greeted with loud cheers, singing and chants of his name as party faithful clad in the NPP’s colours rose to welcome him.
The former Vice President, responding to the excitement, raised his hands in the air as he stepped out of his vehicle and waved to the crowd.
The atmosphere at the stadium became charged as supporters sang party songs and chanted the name of the former Vice President, who has been elected the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 presidential election.
The arrival of Dr Bawumia added to the excitement surrounding the national delegates conference, which has brought together delegates from across the country to elect new national officers of the party.
More than 7,000 delegates are expected to participate in the elections, which cover key positions including National Chairman, General Secretary, National Organiser, National Women’s Organiser, National Youth Organiser, National Nasara Organiser and Communications Director.
The elections are part of the NPP’s ongoing internal reorganisation as the party prepares for the 2028 general election.
The Baba Yara Stadium has been turned into a hive of political activity, with delegates, aspirants, party supporters and campaign teams arriving in their numbers for the conference and elections.
Dr Bawumia’s arrival further heightened the excitement among supporters, who continued singing and chanting as he made his way into the venue.
