Hon. Damata Supports 500 SHS Freshers With GH¢500,000

The Member of Parliament for Afigya Kwabre South, Hon. Ama Appianimaa Salam Damata, has supported 500 needy BECE graduates with a total of GH¢500,000 to ease the burden on parents as their wards prepare for Senior High School.

Under her “Back to School Students Support Program,” each of the 500 beneficiaries received GH¢1,000 cash to assist with the purchase of provisions and other essentials for SHS.

According to Hon. Damata, the initiative was introduced after she observed that while many parents were able to provide items like chop boxes, trunks, pillows and mattresses, they still struggled to raise money for provisions and other necessities.

She noted that the cash support gives parents the flexibility to channel the assistance to their most pressing needs as their children prepare to report to school.

Her objective, she said, is to ensure that financial constraints do not prevent needy but brilliant students from starting their secondary education on a strong footing.

The beneficiary parents expressed profound gratitude to the MP, describing the support as timely. According to them, many families were struggling to raise funds for admission, with some even considering loans, and the GH¢1,000 intervention has significantly reduced their financial pressure.
