NORTHERN NPP YOUTH GROUP ENDORSES CHAIRMAN SAMBA FOR THIRD TERM, CITES EXPERIENCE AND 2028 PREPARATION

The Northern Regional NPP Concerned Youth Group has declared its support for Chairman Mohammed Baantima Samba to lead the party in the region for a third term, describing him as the “experienced hand” needed to reposition the NPP ahead of the 2028 general elections.

In a statement signed by the group’s President, Abdulai Abdul Jalil Opele, the youth group said its endorsement is based on track record and not on money or personal favours.

“We respect every qualified person who wants to contest,” the statement said. “But our support for Chairman Samba is about what he has done for the party before and the experience he brings. He has led this region before, he was retained by delegates because of his work, and he understands the grassroots from polling station to regional level.”

The group noted that with the NPP currently in opposition, the party cannot afford to experiment with leadership at the regional level.

“We are now in opposition. This is not the time to experiment,” Mr. Opele stated. “The battle toward 2028 will be tough. We need a leader who knows the terrain across all 18 constituencies and can mobilize resources and strategy to win back power. Without an experienced leader like Chairman Samba, we will face very big challenges as a region.

According to the Concerned Youth Group, Chairman Samba stands out for his connection to the base.

“He listens. He shows up. He understands the concerns of footsoldiers, executives and patrons,” the statement added. “That is the kind of leadership that keeps the party united and active even when we are out of government.

The group concluded that it stands firmly with Chairman Samba and is calling on delegates to prioritize experience, loyalty and victory in the upcoming regional executive elections.

“The North must lead. And to lead, we must choose wisely,” the statement concluded.
