You Were Never Part of the Parliament that Proposed Free SHS Policy – Fomena NDC PC to NPP
The Parliamentary Candidate on the ticket of National Democratic Congress NDC for the Fomena Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Charles Kofi Ogbeh,has indicated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was not part of the Parliament that proposed the Free Senior High School policy in the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana, emphasizing that the NDC solely proposed free education policy.
According to him,the NPP has in their recent campaigns misled the general public on the NDC cancelling the Free SHS Policy, stressing on how important the policy is to the NDC party which is the reason why they considered its proposal.
Mr. Ogbeh further noted that, the NDC has only laid emphasis on reviewing the policy and tackling the lapses after the NPP implemented it.
He stressed on how negative the double track system of the Free SHS Policy has impacted the academic performances of students in various Senior High Schools, adding that the double track policy needs to be reviewed to enhance teaching and learning.
Speaking at Kyekyewere during the visit of the NDC National Chairman to the Constituency,the Parliamentary Candidate further stated that the NDC when voted to power come December 7 general elections will ensure that the Free SHS is maintained and well organized.
Charles Kofi Ogbeh,the Parliamentary Candidate further entreated the people of Fomena to vote for the NDC to enhance the growth and development of the country.
Nana Anokyewaa Oduro,the Nifahemaa of the Akrokere Traditional Council in her speech during the visit also expressed worries on the double track system of the Free SHS Policy, stressing on the negative impact it’s having on students.
She therefore appealed to the NDC to review the double track system to revert it back to its normalcy.
She also highlighted on the feeding issues pertaining the policy which also makes it unattractive, urging the NDC to address it as well when voted to power come December 7 general elections.
Nana Anokyewaa Oduro finally used the opportunity to entreat Ghanaian youth especially the youth of Fomena to restrain from activities that will bring chaos during the elections to ensure the peace of the country.
