HENRY KWABENA KOKOFU FILES FOR ASHANTI NPP REGIONAL CHAIRMANSHIP, PLEDGES UNITY, DISCIPLINE AND VICTORY IN 2028

Former Bantama Member of Parliament and lawyer, Henry Kwabena Kokofu Esq. has officially filed his nomination to contest the Ashanti Regional Chairmanship of the New Patriotic Party.

The filing was done today at the party’s designated centre at the Regional Secretariat in Asokwa, as the NPP gears up for its Ashanti Regional Executive Elections slated for August 15–16, 2026.

The exercise marks a key step in the party’s internal reorganization ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Addressing journalists and party supporters after submitting his forms, Mr. Kokofu emphasized that unity, discipline and mutual respect must drive the party at every level.

“Unity must be our guiding principle before, during and after these elections,” he said. “This contest should strengthen us, not divide us. We are one family with one goal  to bring the NPP back to power.”

He stressed that *internal cohesion* is critical if the NPP is to maintain its dominance in Ashanti and recapture political power in 2028.

According to him, a divided house cannot win an election, and the Ashanti Region, as the party’s electoral backbone, has a responsibility to lead by example.

The chairmanship aspirant pledged to provide inclusive, transparent and visionary leadership if given the mandate by delegates.

“My focus will be on repositioning the party from the polling station to the regional level,” Mr. Kokofu stated. “I will work closely with constituency executives, polling station officers, electoral area coordinators and all grassroots members to energize the base.”

He outlined plans to strengthen party structures, improve communication between the regional office and constituencies, and introduce systems that promote accountability and effective mobilization.

“Ashanti remains the engine room of the NPP,” he noted. “We need disciplined, transparent and effective leadership that can organize, mobilize, and deliver the numbers needed for victory in 2028.”

Mr. Kokofu also appealed to fellow aspirants, delegates and supporters to conduct their campaigns with decorum and respect.

“Let us avoid words and actions that create division. These elections must be about ideas, not insults. Let us campaign on issues and let the delegates decide,” he urged.

He concluded by calling on delegates to entrust him with the chairmanship, assuring them of dedicated leadership focused on unity, grassroots empowerment, and preparing the party for a resounding victory in 2028.

“With your support, we will build a stronger, more united NPP in Ashanti. Together, we will deliver victory for Dr. Bawumia and the NPP in 2028,” Mr. Kokofu added.

With nominations now closed, the Regional Elections Committee is expected to announce vetting dates ahead of the August congress.
