Alma Mater Seeks Support to Regain Former Glory
The State M/A Schools-Kumasi bantama, comprising State Boys, State Girls, and State Primary, have launched their 80th Anniversary celebrations. The schools are seeking support from old students, well-wishers, and prominent figures, including Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene.
Speaking at the launch, Alhaji Musah Osman, an old student and chairman of the program, appealed to the Asantehene to help the school build a multi-story building to achieve their aim. “Without the school, we, the old students, are nothing,” he emphasized. He also pledged to collaborate with the government to acquire facilities for the school to regain its former glory.
SMC Chairman Peter Akwasi Peprah announced that from January 2026, the schools will be closed to outsiders to ensure students have a peaceful learning environment. He also addressed concerns about encroachment on school land, assuring that no one will be allowed to take over the school’s territory during his tenure.
Bantamahene Komfre Hene Nana Obeng Oduro urged parents to prioritize their children’s education and advised the youth to avoid drug abuse and focus on their studies or vocational training.
The schools aim to restore their former excellence, where admission was highly competitive. To achieve this, they are seeking support from old students and well-wishers to acquire modern facilities, including a computer lab and new school block.
