Ashanti NPP Youth Organizers Reject Bryan Acheampong, Endorse Dr. Bawumia

The Ashanti Regional Youth Organizers of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a strong warning to Dr. Bryan Acheampong, a flagbearer aspirant, over allegations of spreading falsehoods and controversies. The group has rejected Dr. Acheampong’s candidacy, citing several incidents that they believe are detrimental to the party’s image and electoral prospects.
– *Conflict of Interest and SSNIT Hotels Controversy*: The group accused Dr. Acheampong of attempting to acquire majority shares in SSNIT hotels while serving as a Minister of State, constituting a breach of public trust.
– *Mismanagement of Agricultural Sector*: Dr. Acheampong was accused of failing to manage the agricultural sector properly, leading to disaffection among farmers and low food production.
– *Undemocratic Tendencies*: The group condemned Dr. Acheampong’s statement suggesting that the NPP would not hand over power after the December 2024 elections as reckless and undemocratic.
– *Risk of Public Rejection and Electoral Defeat*: The group warned that Dr. Acheampong’s emergence as flagbearer could lead to mass defections, voter apathy, and widespread disillusionment.
The Ashanti NPP Youth Organizers called on the National Executive Committee, National Council, and all Delegates to take their concerns seriously and protect the party’s integrity by rejecting leadership that embodies controversy and self-interest.
The group announced their endorsement of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the best person to lead the NPP into the 2028 general elections, citing his integrity, humility, competence, and inclusiveness as qualities that make him the ideal candidate.
