The group has rejected Dr. Acheampong’s candidacy, citing several incidents that they believe are detrimental to the party’s image and electoral prospects.
– *Conflict of Interest and SSNIT Hotels Controversy*: The group accused Dr. Acheampong of attempting to acquire majority shares in SSNIT hotels while serving as a Minister of State, constituting a breach of public trust.
– *Mismanagement of Agricultural Sector*: Dr. Acheampong was accused of failing to manage the agricultural sector properly, leading to disaffection among farmers and low food production.
– *Undemocratic Tendencies*: The group condemned Dr. Acheampong’s statement suggesting that the NPP would not hand over power after the December 2024 elections as reckless and undemocratic.
