SSNIT Embracing Digital Transformation for Sustainable Pension Scheme

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) is leveraging digital transformation to strengthen employer compliance and ensure a sustainable pension scheme. Speaking at the 2025 Employers’ Breakfast Meeting, SSNIT Director-General Mr. Kwesi Afreh Biney highlighted the organization’s commitment to using technology to enhance service delivery and make compliance easier for employers.

SSNIT’s digital platforms, including the Self-Service Portal and Mobile App, allow employers to submit contribution reports, pay contributions, apply for clearance certificates, and track payment histories conveniently. These digital solutions aim to reduce bureaucracy, save time, and improve accuracy in record-keeping.

SSNIT has introduced several new initiatives, including:

– 24/7 Virtual Branch: A digital extension of SSNIT that provides round-the-clock access to services.
– Co-location Service Points: Partnerships with selected banks to set up service points within their banking halls.
– Customer Journey Mapping: An initiative to better understand employer experiences and identify areas for improvement.

The digital transformation initiative is expected to benefit both employers and contributors by improving efficiency, enhancing transparency, and increasing convenience. SSNIT currently has a compliance rate of nearly 80% and plans to achieve a 90% compliance rate by the end of the year.

Mr. Collins Apraku, Ashanti Regional Manager for the National Pensions Regulatory Authority, has welcomed SSNIT’s digital platforms, considering them a milestone towards enhancing employee welfare upon retirement.
