Faustina-love kennin seeks Answers on Obuase Shooting Incident

Faustina-Love Kennin, the former NDC Parliamentary candidate for Obuasi West, has spoken out about the recent shooting incident in Obuasi, which resulted in the loss of nine lives and injured several others. She expressed her condolences to the families of the victims and called for calm in the community.

Kennin, who is currently undergoing vetting for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi West, stated that she is awaiting the outcome of the investigation into the incident. She believes that it is essential to understand the root causes of the incident to prevent such tragedies from happening again in the future.

According to Kenin, the incident occurred when a group of people suspected to be residents of neighboring communities in Obuasi illegally entered the mining site. She condemned the unjustified acts of aggression, shooting, and violence that ensued, stating that they undermine the partnership between the community and the mining company.

Kennin emphasized that the socio-economic development of the host communities is crucial, and that the mining company has a significant role to play in this regard. She pledged to work with the company to find a lasting solution to the menace, should she be appointed as the MCE for Obuasi West.

One of the key solutions Kennin proposed is the provision of permanent jobs for residents in the area. She believes that this will help to address the underlying issues that led to the incident and prevent future occurrences. Kennin’s comments were made during an interview with the media at the NDC MMDCE’s vetting in Kumasi.
