AR:Local Council of Churches Promotes Peaceful Elections at Oduom

The Local Council Of Churches at Oduom in the Ashanti region has organised a peace dialogue with the aim of preaching peace before during and after the December polls.

The programme was organised to make the Christians across the length and breadth of the country to know the relevant in peace especially elections era.

Speaking to Newspointgh.com news after the program Presbyter Dr. Daniel Kwabena Danso, Secretary for the Oduom Local Council Of Churches indicated that, it is about time Christians in the country fully partake in politics to do away with all forms of rot in politics.

He charged all Ghanaians especially the Christians to go out massively and vote. Because if you fail to vote for your preferred leader, someone will do that for you.

Dr. Daniel Kwabena Danso further appealed to the youth to desist from all forms of political violence that would undermined the peace and tranquility of the country.

Meanwhile, the program was with many political figures who came to urged their followers to restore peace in their areas.

Anwel Sadat Ahmed, the NDC Parliamentary Candidates for Oforikrom Constituency urged the youth to not to indulge in any form of violence as far as this year’s elections are concerned.

He urged the political leaders to choose their words carefully any time they go on their campaign platforms.

Ghana’s reputation as a peaceful nation is truly something to cherish, and Hon. Michael Kwasi Aido’s NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Oforikrom call to preserve this peace is timely. As the National Peace Council notes, Ghana has been ranked the most peaceful country in West Africa and third on the continent.¹ This achievement is a testament to the country’s commitment to harmony and stability.

To maintain this peace, especially during the upcoming elections, it’s crucial to promote responsible communication and avoid inflammatory language.

By embracing these principles, Ghanaians can safeguard their peaceful coexistence and create an environment conducive to progress. As Hon. Aido emphasized, it’s essential to consider the vulnerable members of society, including women, children, and individuals with disabilities, who are often most affected by conflict.

On his part, the Assembly member for Kentintrono Nsene3 eletoral area, Hon Joshua Kwame Owusu Basoah added that, elections are to exercise a civil mandate and nothing else.

He entreated the all Ghanaians to make peace before during and after the elections.
