SSNIT Dispels Collapse Rumors, Boasts Impressive Financial Turnaround

The Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), Kofi Osafo Marfo, has categorically denied rumors of the Trust’s collapse. Speaking at the 2024 edition of SSNIT’s engagement with pensioners in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Osafo Marfo revealed that SSNIT has achieved a remarkable financial turnaround.

– SSNIT recorded a surplus of GHS 230 million from 2021 to 2023.
– The Trust has disbursed GHS 3.7 billion to 250,000 beneficiaries as of August 2024.
– Effective investment management, increased contributions, and sound management practices drove this success.

Nana Adarkwah Tuffour, Chairman of the Ashanti Regional Pensioners Association, echoed Mr. Osafo Marfo’s sentiments, reassuring pensioners of SSNIT’s financial stability. He clarified that challenges faced by some individuals were due to investments in government shares, unrelated to SSNIT.

SSNIT’s financial growth demonstrates the Trust’s resilience and commitment to providing financial security to its members. The successful transition from a deficit position during the COVID-19 era to a surplus is a testament to the Trust’s effective management strategies
