HIGH IMPORT DUTIES COLLAPSING OUR BUSINESS: SUAME MAGAZINE SPARE PART’S DEALER’S ASSOCIATION LAMENT

Spare Dealers Association at Suame Magazine in the Ashanti Region has lamented that, Suame Magazine is gradually collapsing due to high import duties on spare parts.
He stated that, high import duties and cedi depreciation is affecting spare parts business which is preventing people from other countries like Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, and Mali to do business with them
The 1st vice chairman of the Association Mr. Yaw Opare disclosed this In an interview with the Newspointgh.comĀ emphasized that, spare parts business in the country is no longer lucrative and therefore appealed to the government led by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to fulfill his promise by scrapping duties on spare parts.
The dealers however suggest a reduction in duty fees and import taxes to inform new prices and also dissolved National and Regional Taskforce on our road to make their work easier.
Mr Yaw Opare said the cedi has recorded marginal appreciation in recent weeks but these conditions are yet to affect price reduction in the spare parts sector at the Suame automotive hub.
“Car engines, tires, bonnets, and others remain highly-priced, it would be unfair if the dealers reduce prices, whilst import expenses remain constant” He Added.
