DR. BAWUMIA HAS TRANSFORMED GHANA’S POLITICAL DISCOURSE

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Ghana’s Vice President, has indeed had a significant impact on the country’s political discourse. Traditionally, Ghanaian politics has often been characterized by tribal affiliations, religious influences, and propaganda that often overshadow substantial policy discussions. However, Dr. Bawumia, with his background as an economist and a technocrat, has shifted the focus of political conversations towards more substantive issues.
Through his presentations and public addresses, Dr. Bawumia has emphasized the importance of policy decisions, economic management, and governance. He frequently uses data and factual comparisons to assess the performance of various governments, bringing a level of rigor and analysis previously uncommon in Ghanaian political discourse. This shift encourages political parties and flag-bearers to focus on what they have achieved and what they plan to do for the country, rather than relying on populism or divisive rhetoric.
As a result, the political landscape in Ghana is gradually evolving, with more attention being paid to policy proposals, economic indicators, and the overall development agenda. This change challenges political leaders to elevate their campaigns and offers the Ghanaian electorate a more informed basis on which to make their decisions.
Besides the numerous policy implementation as a Vice President, more especially his digitization agenda which has placed Ghana at a digitized economy position, Dr. Bawumia has proven to understand the challenges of the country and has provided measurable, realistic and achievable policy promises.
Ghana must give him the chance to steer the country in the next government.
