Election 2024: Ghanaians cautioned against spiteful comments
The Principal of Crio Bible College also the founder and leader of Impact Ministries Fellowship, Bishop Harrison Arko-Amoateng has urged Ghanaians including religious leaders, politicians and chiefs to promote and preach peace ahead of the December 2024 general elections.
According to him, the church has a role to play in nation-building and maintaining the peace and stability of the country.
Speaking at the 17th Ordination and consecration ceremony on Saturday, August 24th, 2024, Bishop Harrison Arko Amoateng charged Ghanaians especially the religious leaders to desist from using unsavoury comments with the potential to incite electoral violence.
He urged church leaders to harness their platforms to encourage cohesion among members of the Christian fraternity.
“Every minister of the gospel will understand that we have a responsibility to protect the peace, stability, and unity of our country and that whatever we do in this country, we must ensure that we maintain the peace, stability, and cohesion of our country.
“If 72 per cent of us are Christians, then I expect that a lot of these people will be in the churches and therefore pastors have a responsibility through their pulpit to educate church members.
“Let’s avoid insults, cutting down people, and those things that reduce people to nothing, and ensure that at the end of all these elections, Ghana will be peaceful and intact. Be careful what you say, how you say it, and the environment in which those things are said,” Bishop Harrison Amoateng stated.
On the same platform, Bishop Amoateng advised Christians to shun commercial prophets and pastors and rather be committed and remain loyal to what God had ordained for them by refraining from patronising the sale of so-called anointing oil, holy water, handkerchiefs and other odd items from pastors and prophets.
He bemoaned the ascendancy in reported cases of their colleague pastors and prophets selling holy water, oil, handkerchiefs and all sorts of weird items for breakthroughs, warning the populace not to get close to such practices since they were not acceptable in the sight of God.
He has then urged peace Council to act and exposed those pastors so that they would not deceived innocent souls.
He has also urged food and drug authority to sit up by arresting those pastors since the oil and the other items might have contained substance which would be harmful to human body.
Bishop who Ordained 31 pastors comprises with 22 males and 9 female respectively in addition to 5 consecrated men of God charged them to sow good seeds by preaching the word of God and desist from bad practices that go contrary against the word of God.
