Chairman Wontumi’s Bail Ruling Adjourned to November 4; Remains in Nsawam Prison

The High Court has adjourned to November 4, 2026, its ruling on the bail pending trial application filed by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi.

At today’s hearing, the court listened to legal arguments from lawyers representing the applicant, who prayed the court to grant their client bail pending the determination of the substantive trial.

Lawyers for the Republic, on the other hand, opposed the application, urging the court to refuse bail.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the court adjourned the matter for ruling.

The court has fixed Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. for its ruling on whether or not to grant the applicant bail.

Following the adjournment, Chairman Wontumi was escorted back to the Nsawam Medium Security Prison, where he is currently on remand pending the outcome of the bail application.

The case continues to attract significant public attention as supporters await the court’s decision next month.
