Bankyease Community Cries Over Neglected School Building

The poor performance of students at the basic education level has become a major source of concern to the residents at Bankyease a community in the Atwima Nwanbiagya South District of the Ashanti Region and are calling for immediate solution to the phenomenon.
Headmaster of Bankyease Community School, Mr. Alidu Seidu, say the Children have abandoned school due to it current state.
He attributed the abysmal performance of students in the school over lack of teacher’s, and poor infrastructure.
“We have only two teachers in this school.
“Each teacher has to take three classrooms including me and it’s not helping the children,” he stressed.
He therefore, called for multi-sectoral approach to address the various challenges such as lack of decent infrastructure, teaching and learning materials.
Onua TV’s visit to Bankyease community basic school saw that some of students were sitting under a dilapidated Mud-structure whilst others were playing.
Meanwhile, the Students of the school admitted that, lack of teacher’s and bad infrastructure has affected their academic performance.
“Some of us have decided to stop going to school and follow our parents to farm and galamsey,” they cried out.
