23-Year-Old Law Student Declares Bid for Manhyia South Seat on Base Movement Ticket
A 23-year-old law student, Nana Agyeiwaa Baffoe Boney Michaels, has declared her intention to contest the Manhyia South Parliamentary seat* in the upcoming general elections on the ticket of The Base Movement Ghana First.
Addressing supporters in Kumasi, Ms. Michaels said Ghana’s youth can no longer wait on the sidelines while decisions that affect their future are made without them. She described her declaration as a call to action for young people to take up leadership and help shape national policy.

She accused the two major political parties of failing to fulfill their promises to the youth. According to her, successive governments have raised expectations but delivered little in terms of jobs, education, and real opportunities for young Ghanaians.
“It is time to open the way for the Ghanaian youth to take the baton,” she stated. “We need leaders who understand our struggles and are ready to work with us, not just speak to us during elections.”

Ms. Michaels explained that her decision to join The Base Movement Ghana First was influenced by the movement’s commitment to youth empowerment. She cited leaders such as Mr. Oti Bonsu, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, and Mr. Jacob Osei Yeboah [JOY] as examples of individuals who have consistently advocated for young people.

She confirmed that she will pick nomination forms when the Electoral Commission opens nominations, and that her focus will be on education, youth employment, and grassroots development in Manhyia South Constituency.

Several Ghanaians who heard of her declaration have expressed support, describing it as a bold and timely step toward greater youth participation in politics. Many said her entry brings fresh energy and new ideas to the Manhyia South contest.
