Ayinasusu Traders Rebuild After Storm Wrecks Major Market Structures in Offinso South

Traders at the Ayinasusu Market in the Offinso South Municipality are gradually resuming business after a powerful windstorm destroyed several market structures, disrupting economic activities in the area.
The storm, which came with heavy rains on Sunday evening, ripped off roofs and damaged wooden sheds used by traders, leaving many counting losses ahead of the weekly market day. Ayinasusu Market, one of the largest trading centres in the municipality, attracts hundreds of traders and customers from neighbouring communities every Tuesday. The damage forced many to stay away from their usual spots this week.
Some affected traders described the destruction as a major setback, fearing it would disrupt their source of livelihood.
Relief came swiftly when the Offinso South Municipal Assembly intervened, donating twenty packs of roofing sheets, estimated at about 400 sheets, to aid reconstruction efforts.
Assembly Member for the Ayinasusu Electoral Area, Ibrahim Yogo, commended the Assembly for its prompt response, saying it has enabled traders to return to business.

Municipal Chief Executive Frank Owusu Amoah said the intervention was necessary given the market’s importance to the local economy and residents’ livelihoods. He expressed optimism that reconstruction works would restore normal trading activities and help traders recover from the losses.
Encouraged by the support, many traders have already begun rebuilding their stalls in preparation for upcoming market days.
