Northern NPP Youth Group Calls for Sanctions Against Kennedy Agyapong
Abdulai Abdul Jalil Opele, President of the Northern NPP Concerned Youth Group, has called on the New Patriotic Party leadership to urgently sanction Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, warning that failure to act could jeopardize the party’s future.
In a statement, Opele urged the NPP National Council of Elders to convene and address what he described as persistent negative remarks by Agyapong against the party. He argued that such comments undermine party unity and should not be tolerated, questioning why the party continues to treat Agyapong differently.
“I do not see why the party is treating him like he is a god,” Opele said. “If someone else did the same thing Kennedy Ohene Agyapong is doing, I know by this time the person would have received their suspension letter.”
He added that if Agyapong refuses to stop, the party should consider sacking him to protect its integrity and values ahead of future elections. Opele stressed that no individual should be allowed to behave as though the NPP belongs to them personally.
Opele further cautioned the leadership against tolerating disparaging remarks from members who appear to prioritize personal interests over party unity. He stressed that the NPP’s future and cohesion should take precedence, and decisive action may be necessary to safeguard its values.
