NPP Ashanti Secretary Aspirant Slams Regional Minister’s Social Media Remark, Demands Apology to Akosua Manu

Mr. Paul Kwabena Yandoh, who is vying for the Ashanti Regional Secretary position of the NPP, has criticized Dr. Frank Amoakohene over a Facebook response to Akosua Manu that he described as below the standard expected of the Regional Minister.

Dr. Amoakohene had replied to Akosua Manu with: _“Akosua Kumaa, Wo Kɔn ad) anaa? Do you want to have a taste of it?”_ Speaking on Nhyira FM, Mr. Yandoh argued that such language undermines the dignity of the office and fails to reflect the cultural values of the Ashanti Region.

He noted that Ashanti is a region guided by revered chiefs and traditional authorities, and that public leaders must model restraint and respect in their communications.

Beyond the exchange, Mr. Yandoh said the Minister should be tackling urgent regional problems instead. He pointed to pressure on healthcare infrastructure, particularly the congestion and facility needs at the Accident and Emergency unit of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, as areas requiring immediate attention.

Mr. Yandoh is now calling on Dr. Amoakohene to retract the comment and offer an unqualified apology to Akosua Manu, women in Ashanti, and the broader Ghanaian public, saying it would help restore respect and decorum in political discourse.
