Ghana Journalists Association Urges Media to Showcase Ashanti Culture

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) is calling on media practitioners in the Ashanti Region to highlight the area’s rich cultural heritage through responsible journalism. This appeal was made by the GJA’s president, Albert Dwumfour, during the Ashanti Media Summit in Kumasi.
The summit, part of the Ashanti Festival 2026 celebrations, aimed to promote the region’s culture and create opportunities for the youth. Dwumfour emphasized the media’s crucial role in driving tourism, cultural identity, and economic growth.
Speaking at the event, Dwumfour commended organizers for involving the media in festival activities and encouraged both traditional and digital media to participate in the summit and festival events. He believes responsible journalism can greatly showcase Ashanti’s history and traditions globally.
The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, organized the summit to promote culture and create youth opportunities. The event was held at the Live Event Centre, Kumasi City Mall.
The Ashanti Festival 2026 is themed “Amplifying Ashanti Media, Culture and Digital Influence, The New Creative Economy”. The festival promises to be a significant event, showcasing the region’s vibrant culture and heritage.
