Agyapong’s Team Unleashes Scathing Attack on Bawumia’s Re-Run Bid

With the party’s presidential primaries just around the corner, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong’s campaign team has mounted a strong argument against granting Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia a second chance to lead the party into the 2028 general elections. Speaking at a press conference in Kumasi, Sheik Dauda Mohammed, NPP Constituency Secretary for Kintampo North, emphasized that the party’s top priority is to reclaim power in 2028 and form the next government in 2029.

“The NPP’s overriding objective is to win political power in 2028,” Sheik Dauda stated, stressing that delegates must choose a flagbearer with proven grassroots appeal, credibility, and a compelling message that resonates with Ghanaians. Team Ken has formally urged NPP delegates to vote for Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, citing his long-standing commitment to the party, including significant investments in cassava starch processing, fruit and steel manufacturing, plastic production, and the largest cold storage facility in West Africa, which has created over 7,000 jobs for Ghanaian youth.

The team highlighted Agyapong’s active role in the 2024 election campaign, touring the country to canvass votes, and his contributions to party structures and parliamentary candidates nationwide. They also emphasized his grassroots credentials, describing him as the only aspirant who truly understands and connects with the party’s base.

Agyapong’s message of jobs, skills training, factories, and industrialization offers a fresh approach, the team argued, contrasting it with past campaign themes that failed to resonate with voters in 2024. They praised his outspoken stance against corruption and philanthropic efforts, including support for the cardiothoracic centre at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and a power plant at Tamale Teaching Hospital.

The team warned that selecting Bawumia again would be “politically suicidal” given the party’s 2024 performance, particularly in Zongo communities and northern Ghana. “The outcome of the 31 January 2026 election will determine whether the party remains on a sick bed or is discharged,” Sheik Dauda warned. “Delegates must reflect deeply on the consequences of their choice.”

In conclusion, Team Ken urged delegates to vote decisively for Agyapong, describing him as “the voice of the voiceless, the hope of the hopeless, and the redeemer of the vulnerable and the poor.” They expressed confidence that with Agyapong as flagbearer, the NPP would be re-energized and positioned for victory in 2028. “We can no longer waver,” the team declared. “The NPP must win power in 2028—and the man to lead us there is Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.”
