FINAL BURIAL RITES FOR ASANTEHEMAA NANA KONADU YIADOM III

The final burial rites, “Dote Yie,” for the revered Asantehemaa Nana Konadu Yiadom III, are taking place today at the historic Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. The ceremony brings together chiefs, traditional leaders, and members of the public to pay their last respects to the beloved queen mother, who passed away on August 7, 2025, at the age of 98.
To ensure a safe and orderly ceremony, the Manhyia Palace has issued the following directives:
– No live ammunition will be allowed.
– Firing of muskets will only be permitted when directed towards the sky.
– Anyone violating these rules will face arrest and legal action.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the 14th Asantehemaa, ruled with wisdom from 2017 to 2025. She was respected for her loyalty, strength, and devotion to tradition. The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will lead the mourning activities, coordinating the funeral rites in accordance with longstanding customs.
The community has come together to celebrate the life of Nana Konadu Yiadom III in a fitting tribute. The ceremony is a testament to the enduring impact of her leadership and the respect she earned from her people.
