Kusasi Chief Abdul-Malik Azenbe Shot Dead in Kumasi Attack

A tragic incident has shaken the Kusasi community in Kumasi after Chief Abdul-Malik Azenbe, Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region and Chief of the Kadi Divisional Area in Binduri, was shot and killed on Tuesday night, July 22.

According to eyewitnesses, two unidentified men on a motorbike arrived at the chief’s residence near the Asawase F-Line Community Centre around 8:40 p.m. and opened fire. The chief was rushed to the Manhyia District Hospital and later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, has assured the bereaved family of a full-scale investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. Security has been increased in the area, and the police are appealing to the public for information to help track down the gunmen.

The community is calling for swift police action to prevent further violence, amid concerns that the incident may exacerbate existing tensions between the Kusasi and Mamprusi ethnic groups.

The police investigation is ongoing, and the community is eagerly awaiting the results.
