Fashion for All: YEA’s Inclusive Training Programme for Persons with Disabilities
The Youth Employment Authority (YEA) has launched a groundbreaking initiative to empower persons with disabilities in Ghana’s fashion industry. The Make Fashion Inclusive Training Centre in Kumasi will provide training in fashion design, brodary, beading, and millinery works, equipping beneficiaries with the skills and tools to build their businesses and employ others.
Empowering Persons with Disabilities
Mr. Malik Basintale, CEO of YEA, emphasized that the programme is a landmark initiative that brings opportunities, dignity, and empowerment to persons with disabilities. “Inclusion is not charity, but justice, fairness, and allowing persons with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy what they duly deserve,” he said.
Creating Sustainable Opportunities
The training programme aims to create economic freedom for at least 100 persons living with disabilities, enabling them to transform their lives and communities. Mr. Seth Atanga, Ashanti Regional Director of YEA, described the programme as a beacon of hope and opportunity for persons living with disabilities.
