NDC Vows to Revive Nyinahin Bauxite Industry, Create Jobs and Drive Economic Growth

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is making some exciting promises to the people of Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region. According to Hajia Sakina Oforiwaa, the NDC’s Communication Officer for the Atwima Mponua Constituency, the party plans to prioritize the mining of bauxite in Nyinahin, which is expected to create jobs and drive economic growth in the area. This is a significant move, as the area is known to have substantial bauxite reserves that have been largely untapped.

Hajia Oforiwaa criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to capitalize on this resource during their eight years in power, and urged residents to reconsider their support for the NDC, which she described as a party focused on development and progress. She also expressed her commitment to the development of the Atwima Mponua district if appointed as the District Chief Executive (DCE).

It’s worth noting that the NDC’s plan to revive the Nyinahin bauxite industry is not a new idea. In fact, former President John Mahama had previously promised to prioritize bauxite mining in the area if elected ¹. The bauxite resources in Nyinahin are divided into three blocks, and Ashanti Bauxite Limited, a joint venture between Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) and Rocksure International Limited, is planning to develop a mine in the area.

Overall, the NDC’s plan to revive the Nyinahin bauxite industry is a promising development that could bring economic growth and job creation to the area. As Hajia Oforiwaa said, the party is committed to development and progress, and this move is a step in the right direction.
