Ashanti regional workers union of GWL suspends industrial action
The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has suspended its industrial action which halted supply of portables water to some communities in the Ashanti Region following the demolition of staff bungalows by a private developer.
Emmanuel Akpoti Koduah, Vice Chair of the GWL Workers’ Union, disclosed the call off of the strikes follows response to customers hardships and assurances from management.
He stated that the union actions were informed by theirs commitment to protecting the assets of the GWL and extension the state to which they are stewards and trustees for the people of Asanteman.
Mr Emmanuel Kodua on behalf of the union made an unqualified apology to the cherished customers for the inconvenience that the interruption in their service has caused. Added that it was necessary evil that they hoped it would have been avoided but didn’t materialize.
The Workers representatives at the Ghana Water company Ing Dr Alhassan indicated that the union will closely monitor the progress of the promises made and will not hesitate to resume industrial action should the need arise.
