Muslim Peace and Reconciliation Committee Embarks on Peace Advocacy Campaign

The Muslim Peace and Reconciliation Committee has launched a peace advocacy campaign in selected Islamic Senior High Schools in Kumasi as the country prepares for its upcoming general elections.
The initiative aims to promote peaceful coexistence, prevent violence, and encourage young Muslims to become ambassadors of peace.
Led by Chairman Sheikh Mohammed Ridwan, the committee visited several schools, including Al-Azariya Islamic Senior High, Nurul-AMEEN Islamic Senior High, Uthmaniyya Islamic School, and Tawheed Educational Complex.
During these visits, students and teachers were reminded of Quran verses and Hadiths that emphasize the importance of peaceful environments.
“The committee’s message is clear: young Muslims should uphold the values of Islam and become ambassadors of peace, rather than agents of violence,” Sheikh Ridwan emphasized.
Sheikh Ridwan added, “As Muslims, we are commanded to promote peace, justice, and compassion. We must work together to prevent conflicts and ensure a harmonious society.”
The committee’s efforts are particularly significant in the Ashanti region, where Kumasi is located. The region has experienced occasional tensions and conflicts in the past, and the committee’s initiative aims to prevent such incidents during the upcoming elections.
To ensure the success of their efforts, the committee also engaged with various stakeholders, including the Electoral Commission, the Ghana Police Service and political parties, reminding all parties to play by the rules and maintain peace and harmony during the elections.
Sheikh Ridwan noted, “We are calling on all stakeholders to prioritize peace and avoid any actions that could jeopardize the stability of our country. We must work together to ensure a peaceful and successful electoral process.”
The Muslim Peace and Reconciliation Committee has been actively involved in community-based peace campaigns in the Ashanti Region and completing a series of initiatives aimed at promoting peace, reconciliation, and conflict resolution in local communities.
Their efforts have been well-received by community leaders, who appreciate the committee’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region.
To strengthen their operations and expand their reach, Sheikh Ridwan appealing for logistics and materials support to facilitate their peace advocacy campaigns, monitor the electoral process, and provide support to local communities.
