Bawumia Vows to Empower Chiefs with Mining Concessions to Combat Galamsey

As part of measures to combat the illegal mining in the country, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party says chiefs will be patronize in allocation of mining concession.

According to him, since the chiefs are the custodians of our lands, they are the immediate stakeholders to protect the lands from destruction.

Therefore he will see to it that Nananom in the mining areas will get share of mining concession in the mining communities.

Addressing Nananom, clergy, muslims leaders and other stakeholders in Manso Adubia constituency, Dr Bawumia was emphatic that, he is not against small scale mining and his government will strategize it.

Dr Bawumia explained that, he will license all the small scale miners and also establish minerals development bank to help the miners to acquire equipment to do responsible mining.

Added that he want the small scale miners to be millionaires but they should mine responsible.

The Chairman for small scale miners in Amansie South District Mr Kwaku Bonney commonly known as a Osama indicated that Dr Bawumia promise to give chiefs mining concession is a step in right direction to fight galamsey.
