Deputy Education Minister calls for promotion of Twi Language

The Deputy Minister for Education in charge of TVET and Member of Parliament for Kwadaso constituency, Hon Kingsley Nyarko has highlighted the importance of Ghanaian language to the development of the nation.
Hence, Hon Kingsley Nyarko is urging all Ghanaians and other relevant stakeholders to promote Twi language.

The Deputy Minister of Education revealed that, any country that fails to recognize it language lost in a life race. He explained that, any country which language dies does not exist.
Hon Kingsley Nyarko was speaking on behalf of Education Minister Hon Yaw Osei Adutwum during the grand finale of 2024 Otumfou Community Reading Challenge at Manhyia palace aimed at promoting English and Twi reading among JHS students.
The Member of Parliament for Kwadaso reached that, language is the soul of every society, therefore in our quest to promote English reading, the other Ghanaian languages should not be undermined.
Adding that, “we must make sure the twi language lives whilst we are promoting English”, he said.
The contestants community schools were Feyiase D/A JHS, Mensah Saahena M/A JHS in Mampong, Nkwanta kese D/A JHS, Manuel International School in Twedie and Mankranso Holy Prophet Islamic Basic.

At the end of the contest, 15 year old Francis Osei Boamah of Nkwantakese D/A JHS in Afigya Kwabre District emerged winner of the grand finale.
Maame Twumwaa Antwi Baffour of Feyiase D/A JHS held the second position whilst Salamutu Issah from Mankranso held the last position.
Board Chairman for Otumfou foundation Professor Oheneba Boachie – Adje Woahene II in his address reaffirmed Asantehene’s commitment to improve education not only in Asanteman but nationwide.
