Techiman Youth Groups Appeal for Immediate Reopening of Krobo Nursing and Midwifery Training College

The Techiman Youth Association and the Bonokyempem Association have jointly appealed to the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Francis Owusu Antwi, and the Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, to intervene and ensure the immediate reopening of the Techiman Krobo Nursing and Midwifery Training College.

At a joint press conference held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, the youth groups expressed concern over the continued closure of the institution following a student demonstration against the removal of the school’s principal.

Addressing the media, the Patron of the Techiman Youth Association, Mr. Prince Duah, popularly known as “Ogoro,” said the closure has left students stranded and disrupted their academic calendar, negatively affecting their educational progress.

The President of the Techiman Youth Association, Mr. Jerry Owusu, urged the government and relevant authorities to reopen the college without delay and appoint an acting principal to oversee the administration of the institution while outstanding issues are resolved.

Also speaking at the press conference, the President of the Bonokyempem Association, Mr. Gideon Fosu, appealed to the authorities to temper justice with mercy.

He stressed that the nursing and midwifery training college plays a vital role in improving healthcare education in the Techiman area and should be allowed to resume operations to fulfill its mandate.

The youth groups called on the Ministries of Health and Education, as well as the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council, to act swiftly to restore normal academic activities and safeguard the future of the students.
