Dunkura Health Center Gets Modern Lab Facility to Boost Rural Healthcare Delivery
Millennium Promise Alliance, in collaboration with Heart to Heart International, has commissioned and handed over a fully equipped Tropical Laboratory Facility to the Dunkura Health Center in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region, marking a significant milestone in efforts to improve healthcare delivery in the area.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of Millennium Promise Alliance, Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Boahen, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to strengthening healthcare systems in rural communities.
He noted that the establishment of the laboratory forms part of broader interventions aimed at improving diagnostic services and overall health outcomes.
The Bosome Freho District Director of Health, Mrs. Francisca Essinam Ahiavi, expressed appreciation to the supporting organizations for what she described as a major boost to healthcare delivery in the district. She emphasized that the facility would greatly enhance diagnostic capacity but appealed to government to upgrade the Dunkura Health Center to a polyclinic. She also called for a mini theatre, staff accommodation, and additional health personnel to meet the increasing demand for healthcare services.
Adding his voice, the Chief of Boagyaa, Nana Appiagyei Danka, who also serves as Otumfuo Dabehene, commended the initiative and urged residents to take full advantage of the facility. He further used the occasion to call on political leaders to ensure continuity in government projects, stressing that abandoning ongoing initiatives undermines national development.
He particularly appealed for the timely completion of key interventions such as the Agenda 111 hospital projects, noting that sustained commitment to such programmes would improve access to quality healthcare and accelerate socio-economic development.
The newly commissioned laboratory, the first of its kind in the locality, is expected to significantly improve healthcare access and service delivery for residents in Dunkura and surrounding communities.
