BRUTAL ATTACK ON FEMALE TEACHER AND CONTINUED INTIMIDATION AT ARMED FORCES SHTS, KUMASI – TEACHERS ISSUE 48-HOUR ULTIMATUM, DEMAND JUSTICE, AND TRANSFER OF HEADMASTER

*A Shocking Attack on a Female Teacher*
During what was meant to be a peaceful academic session, two-armed Military Police
officers, accompanied by a small clique of compromised teaching staff allegedly loyal to
the ousted Headmaster, Colonel Godwin Agbekey, stormed the school premises and brutally assaulted Madam Rita, a respected female teacher.
The officers attempted to
forcibly arrest her to compel a statement supporting the illegal reinstatement of Col.
Agbekey, who has been under investigation for corruption, conflict of interest, and gross
misconduct by the GES and a subject of transfer from office by the military high command.
This brazen act, took place in full view of shocked colleagues, school management members, including Mr. Afari Yeboah (Asst. Head Administration), Madam Harriet Hedoti
(Asst. Head Domestic) and Seasoned Unionist such as: Baba Atindana (NAGRAT
Regional Sec.) and Ibrahim Tanko (NAGRAT Metro Chairman). This is unwarranted,
dehumanizing, and criminal.
It represents a deliberate effort to intimidate and silence staff who continue to demand accountability, lawful leadership, and respect for professional
integrity at the institution.
*A Pattern of Intimidation and Abuse of Office*
This incident is not isolated. It is part of a well-orchestrated campaign by Col. Godwin Agbekey to maintain unlawful control and influence over the school. Despite his removal from office, he has refused to vacate his position, and continues to wield the Military Police
(WO 1 Akpotome Foli) as instruments of harassment against teachers who oppose his actions.
A previous victim of such intimidation was Mr. Aboagye of the Applied Electricity Department, who also suffered harassment from the same quarters.
*Accommodation on campus hugely weaponized*
Resident Teachers on campus, suffer severe intimidation of threat of eviction using the same tactics of his misuse of the military police. Teachers are given a duration of 48 hours to 7 days to leave their school residence without thoughtful
processes. His bone of contention is to only act on allegation, no verifiable feedback or facts. Classical cases are abounded.
Col. Agbekey has used junior officers from his tribe to execute these oppressive acts, further deepening divisions and tension within the school community. This was evident, when the said Military Police initially gave forms to be distributed to certain teachers through Mr. Nelson Aheto which was vehemently opposed by teachers and it haste
withdrawal.
Such conduct constitutes a gross abuse of power, a violation of human rights,
and a blatant disregard for the sanctity of education. It has created an atmosphere of fear, insecurity, and mistrust, eroding discipline and professionalism within the school.
*Declaration of Persona Non-Grata*
In light of the persistent threats, physical attacks, and deliberate acts of provocation orchestrated under his watch, the teaching and non-teaching body of Armed Forces Senior High Technical School hereby declares Col. Godwin Agbekey persona non-grata on the school premises. His continued presence constitutes a direct threat to peace, security, and the lives of staff and students.
Teachers and non-teaching staff have shown remarkable restraint, but this latest act of violence has exceeded all limits of tolerance.
Let it be stated unequivocally: Col. Agbekey is not above the law. The respect accorded to
him has been purely for the uniform he wears, not the corruption, intimidation, and abuse of authority he has come to represent.
*Demands and Ultimatum*
The teaching and non-teaching staff of AFSHTS hereby issue the following demands and
deadlines:
1. To the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS): Publicly dissociate the Ghana Armed Forces from
the unlawful actions of the Military Police in this matter within 48 hours.
2. To the Ghana Armed Forces Command: Investigate and discipline the two Military Police officers involved in this assault. Conduct a full-scale investigation into the conduct of the Head of the Military Police in Kumasi, and transfer him from the jurisdiction within two weeks.
3. To the Ghana Education Service (GES): Enforce without delay the decision removing Col. Agbekey from office by the Military and ensure his total withdrawal from the school.
4. To the Ministries of Education and Defence: Constitute a joint fact-finding committee to investigate this entire episode, identify all accomplices, and recommend appropriate sanctions.
5. To the Ghana Police Service and CHRAJ: Take up the assault case and ensure justice for the victimized teacher and other affected staff members.

*Warning and Final Word*
The staff of AFSHTS wish to serve notice, in the strongest possible terms, that any further
attempt to harass, assault, or intimidate any member of staff will be met with lawful resistance. The patience and discipline of teachers should not be mistaken for weakness. If
the relevant authorities fail to act within the stipulated timelines, the staff will advise themselves on appropriate lawful actions to safeguard their dignity, safety, and the integrity
of the institution.
We will not stand by while our colleagues are terrorized and our
professional space is militarized.The Headmaster has created an environment of fear, and
the Military Police have been weaponized against educators.
We demand immediate action to restore peace and order.
Conclusion: We reaffirm our commitment to professionalism, peace, and quality education, but we will not compromise our safety, dignity, or integrity.
We call upon the
Ministry of Defence, the Ghana Education Service, the Ministry of Education, and all relevant state institutions to act now, not later, to prevent this situation from degenerating into a national embarrassment. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done.
