Energy Commission Trains Media Professionals on New Energy Efficiency Regulations
The Energy Commission on Thursday 9th October 2025 organized a training workshop for media professionals in Ashanti region.
The training focused on Ghana’s new Energy Efficiency Regulations, and was organised through a collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The workshop equipped journalists with a comprehensive understanding of the regulations, their objectives, and significance to Ghana’s sustainable energy future.
As key influencers, the media play a vital role in raising public awareness, promoting compliance, and encouraging behavioral change towards efficient energy use.
The training enabled participants to provide accurate and insightful reporting, dispel misinformation, and monitor developments in the appliance market. This capacity-building initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between the Energy Commission, media, and stakeholders in promoting energy efficiency and sustainability in Ghana.
The new Energy Efficiency Regulations are part of Ghana’s commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable development. The regulations set Minimum Energy Performance Standards (MEPS) for appliances and encourage the adoption of energy-efficient technologies.
By engaging the media, the Energy Commission aims to amplify the message on energy efficiency and promote a culture of sustainability among Ghanaians.
