Sekyere Afram plains: Vision for Action Foundation engages residents on needs assessment for Medium Term Development plan

To effectively enhance all inclusive governance Vision for Action Foundation in collaboration with I am Aware, a social accountability project by CDD Ghana is actively engaging with the communities in Sekyere Afram Plains District of the Ashanti region to conduct a needs assessment.

This assessment involves gathering information about the community’s priorities, challenges, and resources to inform future development initiatives. By directly involving community members, the foundation aims to create a plan that is relevant, effective, and owned by the people it serves.

Speaking to newspoitgh.com the project coordinator Owuraku Boafo Justice noted tha, the foundation is actively reaching out to residents, community leaders, and local organizations particularly people with disabilities and artisans to understand their perspectives towards the District Medium Term Development Plan.

He mentioned that, they  have grouped the communities into four sub zones namely, Drobonso sub zone, Hamidu Sub zone, Dawua sub zone and Anyonofi sub zone
to identify their most pressing issues facing the community, such as access to healthcare, education, or economic opportunities.

The foundation as part of their data collection get access to the requisite information by various methods such as surveys, interviews, focus groups, and community meetings.

The project coordinator underlined that, their engagement with the communities is the best way for their voices and needs to be prioritized in the upcoming District Medium Development Plan to eradicate irrelevant projects and needs some technocrats in some various Assembly imposes on the residents due to their ignorance.

He remarked that, after their engagement in the various sub zone they will hold town hall meetings to see to it that, the collected data is analyzed to identify trends, patterns, and the root causes of community challenges.

Added that, the findings from the needs assessment will be used to develop a Community Action Plan, outlining specific goals, strategies, and activities to address the identified needs.

According to him the foundation will work with the community to implement the plan and monitor its progress to ensure it is achieving its intended outcomes.

During the exercise Mr Unahr Yakubu, the Planning officer of the foundation conducted the needs assessment and guided the residents to rank the needs.
