Ghanaians advised to undertake Regular Exercise

National Fitness Day
PATH-Ghana in collaboration with the Ghana National in Olympic Committee, Ghana Health Service, National Sports Authority, and other partners, marked National Fitness Day with a series of community activities at Kodie- Apagya in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region.
The event is part of the Community Sport and Health Cooperation Initiative, a global programme implemented in five countries, including Ghana and funded by International Olympic committee. This initiative aims to foster collaboration between sports, health, and education sectors to promote physical activity, improve health, and reduce the prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes, heart disease, and certain cancers.
“National Fitness Day, first launched in August 2022, is observed every second Saturday of the month.
Speaking in an interview with Onua News,The Authorities of the Ghana Health service, Education service and the Sports Authority has encouraged Ghanaians to prioritise physical activity and raise awareness of its health benefits.
They said physical exercise helped to burn a lot of calories and played a key role in improving one’s health to prevent chronic diseases.
The Fitness Walk, which brought together more than 200 participants, was to drum home the importance of unity, regular exercise, and the need to take good care of the environment for the safety of the present and future generations.
Meanwhile the chief of Apagya Nana Owusu Peprah || said, the exercise program at his community will prevent the residents from ailments.
“Regular physical activity can improve your muscle strength and boost your endurance. Exercise sends oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently. And when your heart and lung health improve, you have more energy to tackle daily chores. He said;
