Patronizing Local Goods Can Boost Job Creation and Economy – Magtwins EAGLE Foundation CEO

Mrs. Patricia Kwarteng, CEO of Magtwins EAGLE Foundation, has commended former President John Dramani Mahama’s “Adwuma Wura” initiative, aimed at generating employment opportunities for Ghanaian youth. She believes the initiative has unlimited potential benefits for the youth and is appealing to the government to implement pragmatic measures to promote locally produced products.
To boost local industries, Mrs. Kwarteng suggests mandating Ghanaians to patronize locally-made goods, particularly in educational institutions. She proposes a system where students wear made-in-Ghana sandals on certain days and reserve imported shoes for other days. Additionally, she recommends promoting locally produced food in schools.
By adopting this approach, Ghana can establish its own manufacturing sector, providing employment and economic opportunities for young people. This move can spur market growth, attracting customers from within and outside Ghana, and creating employment opportunities.
Mrs. Kwarteng emphasized that the growing unemployment rate among Ghanaian youth poses a significant threat to national security and economic instability. She believes the “Adwuma Wura” initiative can help tackle this challenge, but its success depends on patronizing locally produced goods.
The Magtwins EAGLE Foundation CEO is urging the government to support local industries and promote the consumption of locally made goods to ensure the sustainability of initiatives like “Adwuma Wura” and to boost Ghana’s economy.
